Fetal Heart Development

In humans, the heart begins to beat about 22-23 days after conception. The heart is beating at about 110 beats per minute.

The heart continues to develop. At week 9, the heart beats between 140 – 170 beats per minute.

By week 12, the heartbeat can usually be heard using a fetal Doppler. At week 12, the heart is beating at about 160 beats per minute.
